synopsis:
This book is about a wealthy boy named Houlden Coulfield that goes through a lot of misfortunes. This book entails the events that takes place after Houlden gets kicked out of his affluent private boarding school. This book is heavy on symbolization, almost everything that J.D. Salinger writes has a deeper meaning than what it is on the surface.
Assessment:
This book is a good read it really gives the readers insight into the world of the wealthy. The Catcher in the Rye goes against the typical stereo type that all rich people are happy. The reader actually gets to see how the wealthier people of the world act through this story. The book affects its readers in the way that it makes them think about the lies that people tell them and also they lies that they tell, because in the story Houlden is a compulsive liar.It changes the way people think because the typical dream is to get rich and all your problems will just dissolved, but unlike the stereotype Houlden is rich and he is miserable.
