The readers of this book are effected because it helps them understan just because someone is different doesnt mean that they are wrong or evil. It shows readers that looking in from the outside isnt always the true image that you have to open a book and not just judge it by the cover. also it changes peoples way of thinking because the next time that they think of judging some one the wil think twice.
